Jolly Good.
My my, looks like exams really have slowed me down this year. I'm impressed.
On Friday night, my family was invited up to our neighbour's house for dinner (Gary and Suzie this is. I've mentioned them before.) It was lovely, Suzie cooked delicious Malay cuisine! I ate way too much aha.
My favourite moment was when Gary learned about my DMV aspirations. He looked like he swallowed a lemon, it was priceless! A little explanation: Gary grew up in the English countryside during World War Two. Animals were food, not friends. In essence, he is not a critter person. So when he learned that one of his favourite young people (that's me) was looking to devoting their entire life to making sure animals are treated more and more like humans, he was mildly distressed. But he recovered well, and even discussed the ethics surrounding euthanization with me for a time.
Oh, and did I mention their nephew A was visiting from the UK? Friday was the first time we'd met, and we got along very well. In fact, we went to see a movie together on Saturday night! The movie was meh, but I still had fun!
Unfortunately he left on Monday. He promised to call next time he's in town, but we're not sure when that will be... Is it possible to be both happy and depressed all at the same time?

Godzilla Gummy Bear.
Living For The Weekend.
Specifically for next weekend once finals are at last over. But in general I find this is true, especially since we have had a rash of rainy weeks and sunny weekends.
I have my first exams on Friday, Calculus and Natural Disasters. Cross your fingers for me! If you can't cross your fingers, crossing your eyes will do. And if you can't cross your eyes...well first of all I'm sorry for pointing it out (that wasn't very sporting of me) and secondly I will cross my fingers for you instead and reap the karma-related benefits that way.
...Ugh. Time to go study.

Carrot-ie Kid.
Inspired by MC and her Tae Kwon Do test tomorrow. Kind of a long story...it's her green-and-orange belt test, which made us think of carrots, which made us think of vegetable martial artists...which made me itch to paint this. I only did it in about two hours mind you, so it's a little rough. But cute, I hope.
So, in my mind, this is what happens when you try to kill a carrot trained in the ancient art of Tae Kwon Do which we shall use poetic licence to call 'Karate', even though we know it's not, so that the pun will work.
Looks like we need a new cutting board! ;)

Feed Nova Scotia ... Cows?
Dad Geoff and I went to volunteer at the food bank last night, as we are wont to do some Tuesdays. Our job is mostly to sort out good cans (undented) from bad cans (dented).
I was pretty beat by the time I got there. That is my excuse.
Anyway, one box was full of cans of dog food:
See the doggie on the can?
The next box was filled with cat food:
See the kitty on the can?
The third box I opened was full of yellow PC brand cans with pictures of cows on the front. And (for a split second mind you) I thought to myself "Who would donate a box full of cow food?"
It was evaporated milk actually. Much more useful. In my defence, anyone could have made that mistake! Okay, well, maybe just me...
